Source for Finsbury Rifles WW1 repro patches

Hello Everyone,

I have just seen these repro patches stated as being, '11th london Regiment, WW1', and I just wondered if anyone knew the source for this assertion. It is not that I doubt what is being stated, merely that I would like to know the details. It does not appear to be on record at the IWM though that could be my lack of skill in using the IWM search engine.

WW1, British 54th Division, Finsbury Rifles, 11th London Regiment arm badge

Many thanks in advance,

Chris

Sorry, cannot help, but I just used my last pinch of salt looking at the link!

Stephen.

:D
It could well be that you have wasted that last bit.

That said, a 'Rangers' officers patch they also have advertised is accurate, so I just wondered if this Finsbury Rifles repro was based on a real source that I had somehow missed during my research.

Sadly the dishonest will exploit these it will not be long before they appear as originals.
The seller claims if he has not owned the patch he has held it yet describes the Staffords badges as worn on the collar they were in fact worn on the sleeve.

Thanks, Mark. I am starting to get the picture now.

I think I see what you mean about them later appearing as originals. I just saw a white on khaki "Queen's" cloth ST elsewhere that appears to be repro. The thing is, it is getting frayed. It also looks like it has even been cut away a bit, which makes it look as if the moths have got at it. At first glance though it looks quite convincing. I imagine from what you say that as the years go by it is going to trick a few people. There is no mention as to the fact it is repro.

Shame.

Chris
