Queens Birthday Parade
 

Whilst watching the parade this morning I was surprised to see that the Major I/C Kings Troop RHA, a female officer, was wearing a full dress RA Sabretache.

As these were abolished exactly 120 years ago I was pleasantly surprised to see it worn.

Has it always been worn by the RHA and I have just not noticed or is it something new?

Agree that it was a pleasant surprise to see this worn, All in all considering the smaller scaled down version of The Parade and change of location I thought that it went well and was well planned and executed by all involved. Did they mention or does anyone know the Unit of of the Officer wearing the blues style uniform and white helmet by the way. He was standing with the Foot Guards Officers to the right of the dias but I never saw a close up of his uniform or badges.

The one on show certainly looked very new, they must have just copied an original without regard to the correct Crown?

He came out with the Queen's party and left with them.

One thing did confuse me , he did not salute when the Queen stepped down from the dias (but did salute when the colours passed) and she did not stop and talk to him. :confused:

The Sabretache worn by the CO of "The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery" was borrowed (and still is on loan) from the RA Museum many years ago.

Yes, Duke of Kent, didn't look too good I'm afraid.

Indeed the Duke of Kent (aged 85) who is Colonel in Chief of the Scots Guards who were trooping their colour.

The Duke had a mild stroke on the morning of 18 March 2013 then in April 2015, he then suffered from a hip injury and was hospitalised at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for further treatments.

No sign of Prince Charles!

I did notice that the chap playing the cymbals did not wear a white belt but all tha others did, is there a reason for this anonamaly.?
