Crap both items
A search of the forum will reveal all you need to know on the traits of good ones

Examples of real ones .Note the design and quality compared to duds ; rear of badge ,the scorpion should be hollowed back.
Can't help with the shoulder titles as still looking myself !!

Completely spurious, notwithstanding the asking price, with little change from seven hundred quid, quite frankly, I think the majority of these sellers know exactly what they are doing.

LRDG

The fact that the seller has marked "No returns" should flag up alarm bells, any decent seller or collector will, or should give a money back deal.

As I am the seller of these two badges I am intrigued by this thread .. I am not an expert on LRDG badges, so have no idea if a sand cast version should have a hollow back or not.
I do know that I bought these from a very reputable dealer, who has dealt in LRDG stuff for many years, and would never sell a fake . I do know the cap badge was used by Pitway in his book, so I am not sure they can be dismissed as "crap" .
They were bought by me, on an auction, with many others bidding, who know a lot more than I do.
I bought them for my own personal collection as can be seen by the invoice, I most certainly am not trying to overcharge anyone !
As I no longer collect I decided to sell them.

I have emailed the dealer ,whom many on this forum know and respect, asking for any more info which I will post once I get it ...

But as one or two on this thread are suggesting that I am knowingly selling fakes or do not accept returns?? ..B.S.

I have been a long time collector and dealer of South African border war militaria and know well enough to seldom cry fake, as there so many exceptions to various " rules". My general rule of thumb is that you can spot a fake as they are so badly made - these are not.

The cap badge is a common fake which has been roughed up to give it a more authentic appearance. It matters not who the seller is or what the story is, it’s an incorrect badge

The title is nothing like any piece of embroidery produced in WW2.

There are some great threads on both these items here

At those eBay prices if anyone had the slightest inclination they were real they wouldn’t have lasted long at all. They would be very very cheap

The LRDG badge sold for US$499.99 with one bid.
So the seller has shown a receipt where he paid US$1306 for the badge from James MacKenzie which he says is the one he listed on eBay.

If the badge is a fake then the buyer (swende) was conned and has now (knowingly or unknowingly) conned someone else.
If the badge is genuine then he's sold it at a huge loss.

It seems the seller removed the LRDG shoulder title from sale.

Very interesting.

James MacKenzie is a good bloke and long time LRDG collector so find it strange that it would come from him.

Sadly, it looks like someone spent a lot of money on a dud badge.

So, reading between the lines it didnt actually sell and the bid that was on it was placed by the seller or on his behalf if he was able to relist it the same day?

...or the seller has more than one...

Highly unlikely, firstly no mention of two badges in post 7 above and the new listing is identical to the first listing, ie - same photos and description.

Possibly. It certainly has been relisted and has one bid on it.
