Irish Rangers 1992-2007?

I came across this S/T which seems odd in that is on 'piper green' material but doesn't fit the norm?
Pre amalgamation with the UDR CGC the 'Rangers' OR's wore short titles on any type of green material, usually olive 'hairy' shirt, or what ever the tailoress had to hand, below woven Coy colour tape with officers the long epaulet slides, usually with only the colour bar, if applicable given rank, with green/white worsted pips but no anodised title. Occasionally one saw anodised rank pip/crown + 'Irish Rangers', depending on form of dress/rank/appointment.

This one below is odd in that it is mid length on piper green material & I suspect is the 4/5th RIRangers Vols TA post '92 (4/5th dropped about '99). The TA retaining RANGERS in their title to avoid confusing the IRA who might take them for RIRegt.

From memory Black was SP Coy in the Regulars, TA?

Comment/criticism appreciated...

I have a similar one to the Royal Irish Regiment. It was worn by OR's on barrack dress. Think yours was worn similarly by the Rangers.

From an ex-Royal Irish Ranger.

Backing for shoulder titles were broken down into the following backings:

A Coy – Black
B Coy – Green
C Coy – Blue
D Coy – Yellow
HQ – Purple / maroon

Hope this helps

Got the Drum Major's from the 1st Bn c2004. A trial example from a manufacturer, with embroidered colour at base. Don't believe these were ever adopted.
