RF Shoulder Titles

Evening all,

I am trying to identify whether the titles below (not quite matching) are Westlake 790 or 796:

Attachment 61330Attachment 61331

I presume the difference between 790 and 796 would be simply their size, but would appreciate any assistance. This pair measure 24mm x 12mm (approx).

With thanks,

Peter.

Hi Peter,
I have a smaller title measuring 22x11mm so I guess yours are the larger Westlake 790.
Cheers, Tinto

Thanks Tinto, that's just what I was looking for :).

All the best,

Peter.

Typefaces

Peter,
As a former compositor I am interested in the typefaces used on badges and titles. Looking at your two titles there is a difference between the "R"'s.

I don't know whether this is regarded as a difference by Ray Westlake in his book. I certainly compare badges and titles for typefaces.

Rob,

You make a very interesting point, and something I also noticed (hence my acknowledgement in the opening post about them not quite being a matching pair :)).

Initially I though that these might perhaps be adapted from RE or RFA titles (RFA might be too large), but I now realise that they are genuine RF examples, so your observations regarding the different typefaces is certainly worth exploring further, in my opinion.

Could we perhaps put the disparity down to the old 'maker variation' chestnut?

Thanks for posting, Rob.

All the best,

Peter.
