Apologies if this question has been raised previously. I have looked through various threads but could not find the answer.
Were the cap and collar badges to this regiment the same size, or was there a larger cap.
The example I have measures 37mm wide & 30mm high.
Thanks in advance.

Yes the Cap badge was larger than the collars. See attached image from Colin Owens "Military Badges and Insignia of Southern Africa"

To the left are early badges in White metal, to the right are later Gilding metal and the middle set are officers bi-metal

When the regiment was raised again after the Anglo Boer War as part of the Transvaal Volunteer Force the cap badge worn by the rank and file was certainly larger.

Cheers for the replies and images from Owens book showing the different sizes. of cap and collar.
Would I be correct in assuming the gilding metal example I have ( 37mm x 30mm ) is a collar?
Thanks.

I believe you have a cap badge. All collars measure 30mm x 25mm

I too would think it to be a cap badge, both the bronze and white metal examples worn by the rank and file during the Transvaal Volunteer period are about 47mm at their widest point from the tip of the jack to the far most tip of the standard and about 38mm at their tallest point from the top to bottom of their pole/staff.
