not sure what this badge is, possibly a fantasy badge.
It appears to be using a Grenadier Guards cap Badge with an Irish fusiliers Eagle attached. Any ideas Thanks Chris Attachment 276780 Attachment 276781 |

Begs the question Why would some one put time and effort into this Strange world Regards Chris |
....is that an Essex eagle? What number is on the eagle?

Fantasy badge
No i dont think so, it has the number 8 below the eagle. I think some one has used a genuine RIF eagle.

Looks like an attempt to make a copy of The Irish Fusiliers of Canada badge worn in the 1920s-30s.

You could have hit the nail on the head

I have collar badges that were made with what I believe were 104th Westminster Fusiliers grenades with the overlays removed and the holes plugged. They have what appear to be the eagles from Irish Fusiliers buttons placed on the grenades.
I have wondered if badges and money were in such short supply that some creativity was needed to procure badges. I have Seaforth Highlanders of Canada collar badges that were cast rather than die struck, and have seen another pair with provenance from an officer who served in the 1930s. Phil |
Phil. Can you post some pictures of the 104th grenades. With Irish Fusiliers eagle overlay. Sound interesting.
|
A very fine Eagle used though!
|
What size is the eagle?

Thanks Phil. I've seen pictures of the wide grenade collars being worn. But the pictures were too indistinct, to make out any detail.
