This badge may not be military but I would still like to identify it if possible. I think that we can rule out Vatican Air Force.

It's part of the Coat of Arms for Newport, Gwent.

It is a collar/epaulette badge worn pre. 1935 ish by the Newport (Monmouthshire) Borough Police.

Thank you both for your help with the identification. Newport, Gwent fits perfectly as the badge was amongst the effects of the Probyn's Horse officer who came from just outside Newport.
