Here are two of mine one with lugs the other with a slider. You should ask the first seller for a picture of the back,as for the second one it looks very messy at the back I would give it a miss. Malc |

Here's one I have which I thought was an original. Is it?

David,
I am afraid that mark is a fake one. Alan |

Thanks Alan. I am going to assume that that particular mark
on any badge makes it a fake. For my benefit, the "J.R.GAUNT. LONDON" format was never used? Could you let me know which "gaunt" ones are ok without going into different font types etc? Rgds, David |
That particular font and style with the full stop was never used but is the mark used by a faker and widely sold on ebay. There are pictures on the reference pages with the genuine Gaunt marks.

Can someone tell what variant of the Greys' NCO arm badges is right - eagle's head turned left or right? Was there the cast badges?
|
The head is always turned to the viewer's right - like the cap badge.
There are known genuine cast examples, both cast silver and cast white-metal. There are around 7 design variations of the NCO's arm badge. STM. |
STM,
thank you very much! regards, Michael |
Here is a RSG QVC plumeholder:

Is this genuine? And this silver NCO's badge? http://s60.radikal.ru/i169/0808/4a/28eb79e0fd54.jpg http://s60.radikal.ru/i170/0808/68/bcf3c5a12509.jpg |
As has been mentioned by other members on other threads - poor rear definition on die struck badges more often than not, means the badge isn't original.
If you are considering purchasing this badge (RSG plume holder), I would get as many opinions as possible before doing so, because at £125, I for one would pass on it. The NCO's arm badge is the most commonly found pattern and I have seen quite a few of these cast and silvered (?) badges over the last couple of years. It seems to be a very rough casting and to be 100% honest with you I couldn't say with certainty if it was original. This pattern is mentioned in L&D's book and is semi die-struck in white metal and has 2 lugs and is flat backed with a small indentation behind the eagles chest. Sorry I can't give you something more definitive. STM. |
Thank you very much, STM!
Any other opinions? |
What can you say about this NCO arm badge? It's cast, silvered. Has three lugs to the rear - two W-E and the third on S.
