This is this is the only thing I have from this unit. There is an Italian book about them but I haven't managed to get hold of a copy yet.

Hi Graham
Just got a copy of the afore mentioned book, nicely signed by the author. All in Italian of course but some great photos especially of officers in 'Bobby' helmets. What was interesting was the bibliography, it mentions a book by the late Guido Rosignoli on the Uniforms and badges of the Force, again in Italian published in 1986. I had corresponded with Guido a number of times but his book was unknown to me otherwise it might havebeen interesting to ask him about it. |
Hi Sean
Thank you, another one to look out for. A while back I got a July 1949 copy of The Army Quarterly containing a 7-page article on the VGPF by a Major J.D. Lunt - sadly text only with no illustrations, but a contemporary account of the force. TBH it is a force I'm avoiding collecting to for fear of stretching my resources too thinly so I'm going to stick with the BMA forces in Africa and the Med as I think those quite sufficient. If you ever have anything like that spare I'd happily swap for the VG Police cap badge and Army Quarterly. All the best Graham |
