US 8th Army
Hi!
http://britishbadgeforum.com/forums/...ictureid=69431 At last, a Korean War-era US patch! My one question is who would have worn it. As I understand it, the 8th Army comprises many divisions in the Korean area (each with their own badge), so would this patch have been worn just by headquaters staff? See more: http://britishbadgeforum.com/forums/...p?albumid=1458 Many thanks, BP |
Short answer BP, yes and all units that may, sometime, come under direct command.

Agreed - worn by the staff of HQ US Eighth Army and by units directly subordinate to the HQ US Eighth Army (ie as opposed to being subordinate to Corps or Division HQ within the Army). As a result it will have been worn by comparatively few men. |
BP,
Go to this link. The units listed under Eighth Army & Major units had their own patch. Look at the Army Units List. Some of these units were assigned to divisions and corps, engineer and artillery, as well as other types of units. many were assigned directly to 8th Army and would have worn that patch. KMAG and the logistical units had their own patch. A little research can clear this up. Given the ratio of support to combat troops in the USA there were many people who wore the 8th Army patch. I served with 2 senior sergeants in the late 1970's who wore this patch. Hope this answers more questions than it rraises. Don |
OK, that's a great help - thanks!
