I bought a small amount of uniform buttons at a local aution house.

The "Victorian Crown" caught my eye...

Can't read the maker in the back... (Firmin?) but it's London made.

Would it be from one of the regiments below?

If so... Sweeeeet!!! Any idea of the value/rarity?

CANADIAN CORPS 1764-1871
Listed here are only those corps on active duty for more than two years at the time of the 1837-38 Rebellions. The name of an American state is given in instances where the corps were raised in locations that are now in the United States.

Cavalry
Provincial Cavalry (up to five companies with a variety of names) 1812-15: Quebec, Ontario.
Provincial Light Cavalry (Queen's Light Dragoons & Royal Montreal Cavalry), 1837-50: Quebec.
Huntington Frontier Cavalry, 1837-43: Quebec.
Stanstead Frontier Cavalry, 1838-43: Quebec.
Shefford Frontier Cavalry, 1837-43: Quebec.
Incorporated Light Dragoons, 1837-43: Ontario.

Nice early Canadian militaria. Well done! Sadly, buttons have never been really widely collected and don't brinf a lot, though prices are inching up in every field theses days. I recently paid between $1.00 & $2.00 a piece for WWI buttons, so maybe double that or more for a Victorian period piece. Try Arctic Medals, out west, for some prices. He often has pre-1900 badges and some buttons.

Going to have to disagree with Peter on the values for these buttons. Marway auctioned a collection recently, and some buttons are realizing significant prices. More research needs to be done on the dating, but these are scarce and would likely go for a good price. Of course, the number of buttons available will make a difference.

Sadly... only one!

Appart from my "fished out of water" 1796 pattern light cavalry sabre, it may be the oldest item I ever found.

Thanks Bill for the plug, and yes it seems buttons are really coming into their own nowadays. Victorian & WW1 Canadian units are attracting quite a collectors base.

We have a number of buttons on the retail site, but starting on Thursday Nov 22nd, we will uploading close to a 100 buttons for sale on Ebay (seller mmarway). Some real gems in there.
