Hi, I am suspicious of both of these. Could I have some feedback please.

The Staff Yeo badge was in brass.

Staffordshire Badges

Hi. Your right to be suspicious. The black finish on the first gives this one away and the slider is all wrong. The slider on the second i don't like. and on a badge with a back as clean as this one.I like to see some run of the braising flux. But these are just my opinion. Other members on this site with more knowledge of Yeomanry badges than me may disagree So wait for their input before dismissing the badges outright. Mary.

Was not the WM version worn by a school OTC?

Can offer a double fake whammy on this badge.
I have it in white metal, with a Marples and Beasley Birmingham slider!!!

You may be thinking of Handsworth Grammar School which at some point wore a 'similar' badge to the Staff Yeomanry. If memory serves me, Alan O suggested it was in white metal, but Alan can probably confirm that.

If readable from the attached see the reference to Handsworth about 2/3 down the page.

Yes, thanks, it is legible, but the question remains; just what does a "close resemblance" actually mean?
I have had this worn old badge knocking about for years and now recall I wrote Handsworth on the slider thinking this is what it purports to be. But is it?

Is this a South Staffordshire cap badge with the scroll detached!
Tony.

Close examination shows no evidence of a scroll once attached. There is a tiny nodule visible on the left, but it is not the remains of a braise.
