One for Hagwalther Re first pattern a/a cap badge I have seen both marked -firmin on left of the cross and firmin slider and unmarked examples Are the unmarked items correct and issued for use by the regiment

I'll leave the answer to Chris as he has done the later research, however LB&B have produced badges out of period for the collectors market! I believe Firmin made the early (initial) S&G badges and also the subsequent inlayed badges too

Light Dragoons - from Chapter 6: Manufacturer's Markings:

Sometimes Firmin & Sons used a mixture of both stamped and die forged markings on the same badge. As well as the 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’s) shown at the start of this chapter, examples of both markings will be found on AAB15 – The Light Dragoons [Gold and Silver] and AAN14 – Leeds University OTC in Chapter 21 - The Badges. No doubt collectors will find others within their own collections.

Now, are you sure that the slider is actually unmarked? Some Light Dragoon badges had a very light Firmin strike on them.

1. This badge was authorised in two official colour variations. Originally coloured as a gold and silver badge, and later coloured as a gold, silver and blue badge.
2. The gold, silver and blue badge appears to have replaced the gold and silver version in the early to mid 1990s via COSA 1995 using the same NSN and pattern number (see Appendix 2 – CCN, COSA, JSP 768, UKSC2124 Master List).
3. Although there is only one officially authorised badge for The Light Dragoons the differences in specification have been noted in this publication with separate entries in Chapter 21: The Badges.

Both of mine came from a contact at Fenham barracks Newcastle,around 1993 I think.One is marked the other appears not to be.

Hi Chris many thanks for your reply the slider is unmarked , badge 2 part construction I purchased my example at Yate military fair 3 dealers had an example for sale hence post. Will try to post photo later
Andy has a nice example of the firmin marked badge for sale at present

My a/a collars are marked Firmin ,and F&S Officers also Firmin marked
