Opinions on SAS wing

Hello all,

I'd be interested in your opinions on the authenticity and era of this SAS para wing. It has the unusual feature of white accent thread along the bottom of the wing, rather than the top. It also has a thin paste coating applied to the reverse.

Best regards,
Donovan

Hi Donovan

It also has 8 rigging lines/split feathers it should be 7. I am not sure about it it also lacks a certain crispness look and feel of a ww2 wing.

Cheers

JB

This wing may be ok, a similar wing can be seen in Airtrooper's SAS album (not the Rhodesian album) page 7, third from right top row.

Your wing has nine feathers and eight black rigging lines as JB has stated. Nine feathers are usually associated with Rhodesian SAS wings, therefore yours could be an early Rhodesian wing.

The bottom white thread has been seen on other early SAS wings.

Cheers, Jack.
