Royal signals two piece badge
 

Hi All,

I've just picked this two piece badge up but now I'm looking at my books I can only find a Queen's crown version.

Is this badge right or does the crown belong to a different badge?

Looks like the crown is a bit too large and the slider fitting inappropriate for use with the lugged "Jimmy".
Perhaps the crown has been cut or snapped from another design of badge?
The short lived St Edwards crown slidered anodised aluminium badge had a narrower slider designed to fit within flatter wider lugs than the norm.

Is Jimmy anodised? He looks bimetal to me. And as Leigh has said the lugs should be squared.

The crown is from something else. The a/a pattern for this badge was sealed in 1955 and is Queen’s crown only.

Thanks a lot for the replies, no the Jimmy is bimetal but if the sealed pattern is 1955 then that answers the question.

I wonder what the crown was from.

Thank you, that makes a lot more sense. I was wondering how the slider could be worn with the Jimmy on lugs.

I used to have the bi-metal KC version, complete with the backing plate and retaining pin. The crown was indeed lugged, rather than with a slider. It had belonged to a gent who served out in Malaya in the late-1940s/early-1950s. Unfortunately, I do not now have any photos of it.
