Thanks to another forum member, Donovan. P, I was finally able to add a beautiful French made 1st Ranger Battalion 'chain stitched' scroll to my collection.
I also added a nice First Special Service Force parachute oval. I thought it was going to be a quiet year but very pleased with the items I managed to pick up. I just updated my albums with some other little pieces of history. Merry Christmas Paul |

I spotted an auction lot of Boer War/WW1 medals and badges that included some British Legion items but as I don't collect medals and couldn't afford to buy the lot I thought all was lost and I had missed my chance. :(
But a few weeks later the lot was split and the BL badges appeared on eBay and I was fortunate enough to win them. :) A wonderful set of Cap badge and collars , belonging to a Major H.S.L Wolley , for the very short lived British Legion Volunteer Police Force which only existed for 10 days ! |

My best buy of the year in terms of my collecting interest came via OC14, (thank you Paul), and consists of a 17th Indian Division cloth group with provenance.

My best buy in terms of something I don't collect but wasn't going to leave behind, was found in a box of cutlery on a house clearance dealer's stall.
It was very grubby, has been shortened and there was no scabbard, but I am not complaining. The cloth badges came from another source. |
