Not only is this not a WW1 badge but I believe all the die struck examples one comes across are duds. The badge is an officers caubeen badge introduced when the unit was reformed in 1939. The design is based on a pre 1922 officers headdress badge and original examples are die cast silver plate with a named slider. Two examples are illustrated.

Looking at the sellers other items they have a DCLI cap badge which is described as WWI and could have been made in 1942 or anytime before or later up to the amalgamation, this fanciful dating of cap badges where no dating is applicable must be the scourge of all new collectors lives.

As for pricing, they are way over the top.

Perhaps the seller is aware that his offerings are a bit rich, as they all have make an offer available.
Problem for me is he is charging 20 Quid to send to the US:mad:
