Unknown Arab Badge

Another new addition, I was thinking it was Omani but not sure what.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Bill |
Hi Bill
Could be talking havers, but wasn't this used by the force between the Trucial Oman Scouts and whatever the UAE army is today? I'm sure an expert will put me right if not. All the best Graham |
Hi Bill,
My guess is Union Defence Force, I'm sure Eddie Parks or Quicksilver will know for sure. Clay |

It is the Union Defence Force 1971-1974. And that's what it says on the scroll BUT its an unusual version I haven't seen before.
This is the more usual version, the falcon faces left and is standing on its perch, not on the kunjars, souk silver, pin fastened. Can we see the back of yours Eddie |
This is a most interesting badge. It looks similar to a Union Defence Force as Eddie says. I can not add anything. The Dubai Defence Force and Abu Dhabi Defence Force badges are different. In short I don't know what it is but I have made an inquiry and perhaps we will get some clarification in a few days if no one else knows what it is.

Have asked for help on this but still comes up as UDF. Very unusual version and perhaps a trial badge.

Thanks for the replies to this conundrum,
I did think it looked similar to the UDF but as you say Eddie, the bird faces the wrong way. It is gold coloured and is I think sand cast with lug type fixings. It may well have been some trial badge Quicksilver but looking on Google I can't see any others like it, although very similar, the bird is the issue...aren't they always ;) I'll post a pic when I get home tonight. Thanks again for your help, Bill |
