Replacing fastenings?

What can you do to attach a fastening to an AA badge missing the strap? I have tried soldering ordinary copper lugs onto a 5mm disc, then using super glue or araldite, but results have not been good (they come off easily because metal-to-metal does not give a good bond).
Thanks.

Kingsley,
The best answer I can find is superglueing two of the clutch pin type fixings.
This is the type of fitting used on many AA shoulder titles.
It is not the perfect answer but it does mean you can attach them to a display board.

If it is just for display, use a plastic toped drawing pin (thumb tack) fixed on the back in an appropriate place with araldite.

A/A fixing

Could some double sided tape be used to hold the more flat backed A/A badges as they do not weigh a great deal?

there is some stuff called Q-BOND which is used in motor/car repair places, and you can buy it in many good motor factor type shops. it say's on the box "repairs almost anything!" might be worth a go. regards john just found out that it is superglue based so as you have tried that.....might not be worth wasting money after all.

Q bond works well ,much better than a lot of other things.

I think a lot of people have tried and failed.

Hi Guys,

Has anyone tried using Araldite Rapid Steel adhesive to stick aluminium?

See here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARALDITE-RAP...araldite+metal

Packet and discription states that it is:

'...ideal for most types of metal including Steel, Aluminium, Iron, Copper and Brass...'

Regards

Chris
