Volunteer Service League

More DNW Stuff

Cannot find much info on this WW1 outfit - apparently raised by the Marchioness of Londonderry.

Anyone know what they got up to? Nursing? Driving? Secretarial?

[The collars were described as broached - I assumed original fittings replaced - but on inspection broach is the original and correct method, so a rather nice original set, although I think they also wore shoulder titles.]

Lovely badges you have here, very nice group. Found some IWM archives on line regarding this unit, interesting reading. Page 24 onwards items 235 - 247 cover the VSL. There seems to be some good information here but work within hospitals was certainly there remit. General duties helping out as nursing auxilaries. Mention of emptying bins in there as well! http://www.tlemea.com/waw.asp?view=n...Corps&nPage=24

Many thanks for that Dave, I didn't know any of that was there. Great to read the original docs.
