Snapped last weekend at the Isle of Wight festival, during a [rather boring] performance by Noel Gallagher.

Any ideas? Looks faintly RAF-ee to me.

Should be rotated so sword faces upwards

The sword & chain like that was the badge for RAF Biggin Hill, but as that hasn't been around for some time now I'd guess at an RAF reserve unit - not one I'm familiar with though.

Blimey!
Well over 200 views and no serious candidates yet.

If it is that rare, perhaps I should have mugged him for it.

Could it possibly be a unit that has a historical connection to Biggin Hill ?

No. 600 (City of London) Squadron RAuxAF - On 10 May 1946, 600 Sqn reformed at RAF Biggin Hill, as a day fighter squadron of the Auxiliary Air Force with Spitfires.

The University of London Air Squadron - April 1941: After the war had ended, the University Air Squadron system reformed within No 54 Group and transferred over to No 3 EFTS at RAF Biggin Hill flying de Havilland Tiger Moths.

No, 600 Sqn use a strip of alternating red/white triangles, like their aircraft markings from the 50s.
