Royal Marines Badge identification and authenticity

It is one of a collection of some 60 or so British regimental cap badges put together by my Grandfather who served in North Africa during WWII. Half of them are from Scottish Regiments. I believe they are originals. This one has me stumped. I think It is a Royal Marine Badge of some sorts however my research shows that it is not the standard cap badge but possibly something that was attached to a Bandsmans pouch?

Yes, a pouch badge, still in use in the 60's and possibly beyond I believe (I don't know if it's genuine, I'll leave that decision to others).
