5 th Regiment of tirailleurs Marocains badge

Hello everybody!

I have recently bought this badge of the 5-éme Régiment des Trailleurs Marocains. It's very small, 2 cm in diameter, so I guess it would have not been used as a cap or turban badge. So some sort of commemorative/sweetheart badge? Thank you in advance for your help, gents!

I suspected it would have been something like that: Merci Didier!

Small unit badges like this are also often worn on the tunic shoulder strap after leaving the unit to indicate prior service. It was quite common for officers and NCOs to move between units so they would often have a mini unit badge like this to indicate their previous unit (especially if it was one with a good fighting record).
