Rogues Gallery of Known Fakes

I thought it would be a good idea to have a gallery of known Canadian airborne fakes. If a moderator could pin the topic...would be greatly appreciated.

Please add pics to keep the topic fresh and current. Links to past eBay auctions isn't sufficient as they expire and the information is lost.

There are many variations of this badge in different materials and some have sliders. Once you understand that this badge is a copy of the officer's badge (which is larger, has some different design details from the EM's badge and has overlays) it becomes easy to identify this as a fake. As far as I'm aware there is only one convincing fake on the market that properly represents the EM's brass badge (previously discussed) so this is going to be a very small gallery.

Well...that's the spirit!!!

I'm not sure if I came off the wrong way but my point is simply that the badge you have shown represents the bulk of the fakes out there so I don't expect the gallery to be very big. I could be wrong.... it's happened once or twice before ;)

Here is another example of the badge seen in the first post. This time it has a slider but otherwise is the same. There are many variations of this same badge but the thing that remains consistent is that they are supposed to be an EM's badge but are made in the style of the officer's badge which is the easiest way to identify it as a fake.

I meant a rogues gallery of all Canadian airborne fakes encompassing all badges and insignia...not just cap badges alone.

Let's see some more images!!!

Pointed out on the FB page for the MCC of C. How about this example? (Unfortunately the image will not be available after the auction ends.)

Fair enough, not sure why I assumed it was only for cap badges. So far the metal badges shown have all been variations of the first badge posted which goes to show how common they are. Hopefully this gallery will help to reduce the number of these fakes being sold as original. The details on the reverse of the plastic badge is so far from an original that I hope nobody would be fooled. I think the real value in this gallery will be the cloth insignia.
