BEF badge

This badge is in the style and colour of the cuff badges worn by RNR and RNVR ratings.
What does this badge stand for and is it naval?
Thanks
Barry

Unofficial badge purchased and worn to show the wearer was a member of the early WWII British Expeditionary Force, colours appropriate for the wearer's arm of service / regiment or Corps?

Similar badges including shoulder strap slip on versions shown in this thread:

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=19830

The BEF badges feature in "Badges on Battledress" and there's at least one more thread on the BEF badges on the forum but I hav'nt found it.
Slip ons make more sense than sew on for these unofficial badges as they could be easily removed when they needed to be hidden from authority.

I know nothing much about naval badges, perhaps, if it's naval the BEF stands for something else?

Thanks for your thoughts.
As naval ratings uniforms did not have shoulder straps then they must have had an sew on version.
Unofficial and as you say sew on badges are harder to remove when authorities are near.
I wonder if anyone has seen any photos of these badges being worn by ratings.
Thanks
Barry
