Curious ARP lapel badge with white cross addition

1 Attachment(s)
I picked this ARP lapel badge up today at a flea market. I've never come across or seen an ARP badge with the additional white cross at the base. It's clearly made at the time and not a later addition. Anyone have the answer to what the white cross represents?

My money's on a Scottish connection.

It's rather obscure then and now, but it's a saltire, representing good luck or good omen. Although it is associated with St Andrew, it is not exclusively, so is likely, but not certainly, Scottish related.

I have other ARP sweetheart-type lapels that have lucky horseshoes below the badge. Obviously, the idea was to bring good luck/protect the wearer from being blown up whilst on duty!

See for more details about the saltire's meaning: https://www.seiyaku.com/customs/crosses/andrew.html

HI gents ,as a collector of A.R.P items I agree its probably a good luck sign rather than a Scottish connection ( a great pity as if it were Glasgow ship yards A.R.P that would be really nice ) welcomer other opinions , nice badge thanks for showing .
