UVF Liverpool Battalion ?
 

KLR pointed this E bay item out to me and as neither of us have heard of such a unit before we wondered if there was a UVF Liverpool battalion, or if it is spurious item and a figment of someones imagination ?

I was thinking more of the UVF of WW1 but I suppose this might be the "battalion" that the badge relates to.

This is a modern piece, nothng to do with WW1 or te "old UVF".

I think it's probably a fundraising fantasy from the 70s/80s

there have always been a strong irish connection with liverpool but this looks 70/80s with a pin back and not a dixie type device on the rear

I cant comment on the dating of the badge, but having lived in Southport and witnessed the annual pilgrimage of thousands of Orangemen from Liverpool on the Glorious 12th of July, nothing would surprise me.

There where recruiting stations in Glasgow and Liverpool in the old pre Great War days. But you had to go to Ulster to join a unit as there where non on the mainland.
The Modern UVF have 'units' all over the mainland. These UVF 'soldiers' do not wear uniforms unless it's the affiliated flute band. But that's really just politics and not what this forum is about.
