These para wings just sold on ebay for £2,297.00

Can someone explain why they are so incredibly valuable?

I have no idea Luc - sorry - but the bidding history makes for interesting reading, I suspect the under bidder got a shock at being outbid on that one!

From the feedback score the winning bidder was davidt2370 which is one of JDR’s accounts.

I saw these Luc and thought they were an unusual looking locally made wing, possibly from Force 136 related, but certainly didn't expect these to go for much above 250 - 300 quid.

That price is ridiculous.

Yes looked at them , thought Indian made para, certainly crazy amount...two bidders wanted to get them and put silly amounts on them...certainly not worth that in my opinion.

I believe the Force 136 wings were all hand made and, as a consequence, different variations exist.

Here a set of mine, same colours but made by a different hand.

You can recognise the feedback score against the known accounts. It's easy to see the pattern and if you know the ID then it's easy to cross reference.

It randomly changes. Ebay are sneaky in everything!

It does but the feedback number is constant so if you have the known ID saved then you can compare it. Of course if it a snipe with is a 5 figure number or a 4 figure number that looks familiar and then it turns up the next week with a very high (double or treble the norm) price as a 100% original item then you know that it's gone via South Wales or Liverpool area. Profiteering xxxx ruining the hobby imo..

May I enquire: Can something which is made by hand in 1944 always reliably be distinguished from one made by hand in 2021?
It seems to me that, in the case of this object, everything depends on the "aged look" of the thing.
"As any fule kno", for example, sunbathing ages collagen in skin or leather. So I am asking whether there are processes which accelerate the ageing of threads and cloth, and whether a price tag like this encourages / guarantees a cottage industry in fakes?
