Its Greek to me...?

Can anyone identify this badge? It looks like Greek or Cypriot writing to the scroll.

Thank you

Possibly "Cyprus Home Guard"

ΑΜΥΝΕΣΟΕ translates to DEFENSE/DEFENCE

.

If I remember correctly it is the Cyprus Defence Force of WW1.

IWM describes "BADGE, HEADDRESS, CYPRUS, CYPRUS DEFENCE FORCE" as :

Quote:

lion above a scroll in Greek

Thank you very much Mike and Hoot.

I found the IWM page noting the Defence Force badge and it would seem to be the one, although during a quick search I've not yet found anything more on the Defence Force itself.

It'll give me a little homework!
