Just a postcard photo of a FAU man (formerly First Anglo Belgian Ambulance Unit) for observation comment etc.

You have a name for him?
I think I have a small book listing names and units. |

This is the back of the card Leigh. One name appears to be the ladies. The other looks like H Bert, which mey be the gents name.
It's a Carlisle photographer. Billyh |
I'll seek out the book and have a look.

Thank's Leigh, I know the quaker's have a search tool, but it doesn't seem to function. Can you just check the name on the card. I may have had a Specsavers moment!

Looks like H Burt to me, when I find the book I'll check, Bunt, Bust etc

Tried searching for all people with initial H and surname starting with B but didn't find any likely candidates. Will do a bit more digging later. . |
Thanks Mike,
I've only tried the site on my phone. Perhaps that's the issue. Billyh |

B could be the middle initial, there is quite a gap between it and the rest of the name.

I've checked "Friends Ambulance Unit, List of Members and Addresses 1914-1919", no trace of an H Burt, Bunt, Bert or anything similar, closest is an HH Burtt.
No trace of a Raphael. |
Thanks Leigh

Not wanting to put the cat among the pigeons, but are you sure that is a FAU man? The uniform and Cap badge is as worn by British Red Cross during WWI, so may this man be BRC? Steven |
He's FAU. I'd expect to see the red cross with the standard metal cap badge and normal, not braided, shoulder strap.
