this Gaunt example is found with various means of fastening, blades, screw post etc. that's one ticked off, now for the rest !

examples of the various fittings found on this pattern of bird. Gaunt made another version which differed in detail and came with a screw post.

I asked for opinions on an other forum (warrelics.eu) and had a positive response from one of the experts there that I like to share with you in this thread:

"... congratulations on your acquisition, it looks fine and from your photographs might never had been issued, there are various types to this cap badge by Gaunt, one with a post and retaining plate and one in sterling silver ... "
