4th Battalion (Royal Fusiliers) - 1914
Hi Guys,
As some of your may know, I'm working on a frame to commemorate the VC recipients at the Battle of Mons (an interest of mine). The plan is to frame a cigarette card, hat badge and title for each recipient. What I'd like to seek some clarification on is what shoulder titles were worn by Private Sidney Godley and Lieutenant Maurice Dease both of the 4th Battalion (Royal Fusiliers). Would the 4th Battalion (a regular army unit) worn the simple 'RF' title or the larger 'T /1-4/grenade/RF/City of London' title in 1914 at Mons? Any information or advice appreciated. Mick |
Just the RF for the Regular battalion.

There wasn't a 4th TF Bn of the Royal Fusiliers, there was a regular 4th Bn Royal Fusiliers, the reserve battalions started at 5th Bn.
There were 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th (City of London) Battalions London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) which cause confusion. |
