The British and Commonwealth Military Badge Forum
Forum Rules

Treat fellow posters with respect and courtesy. There will be a range of opinions on certain types of military insignia. Do not elevate discussions into personal arguments and/or attacks. Recognise the point of ‘no gain’ in a discussion and move on.

The forum is not a soap box for personal attacks on individuals and businesses. Remember the forum owner may be responsible for libellous posts made by others. Such posts will be removed. There will be no warning regarding deletion.

Derogatory comments against others, including slurs based on race, religion, gender, sexual preference, or political affiliation will not be tolerated. Do not threaten or harass other forum members.

Do not post vulgar, obscene, illegal or inappropriate material. No swearing in posts please.

Do not post in the public forums your own, or anyone else’s personal details, such as email, address, etc.

Do not post copyrighted material. Please remember all images on the internet and elsewhere that you have not personally created are the intellectual property of someone. You cannot use them without permission.  You are responsible for compliance with this, and it includes your avatar.

All content posted by you will become the property of britishbadgeforum.com (but will not be used elsewhere by us).

Complying material that you post will be permanent.

If you plan on using the Forum membership to identify, date, or collect information to enhance the desirability of an item that you intend to sell, then please say so in your first post on the subject.

The ‘Classified Ad’ section is for sales and wants, but note the forum accepts no responsibility for any losses you may incur from its use. Use of the Classifieds is at your own risk. Please do not list known copies or restrikes for sale in the classifieds.

Advertising and sales outside of the Classified Ads section or the designated Fairs, Sales, Auctions and Dealer Recommendations  sub-forum, are not permitted. A ‘signature’ at the bottom of your post is permitted which can be a link to your business. The sale of firearms and ammunition of any type is not permitted anywhere on the site.

Keep discussions ‘on topic’ and in the appropriate sub-forum.  Other subjects can be posted in the off-topic forum (last forum on the index page)

Private messages are just that: do not publish these in the public forum unless you have the express written consent of the other party.

Threads and posts solely to promote a specific seller, dealer or auctioneer are not allowed – that is threads and posts that appear to be an advertisement for a seller are not allowed.

Opinions on insignia originality are our Achilles heel and are the source of 95% thread degeneration that requires moderator intervention. Yet such discussions at the same time are probably the most useful function of the website for collectors trying to build a collection of original items. Joining or continuing to use the forum means you agree to post in a tolerant and mature way in such threads. Remember that opinions on originality are the opinions of the posters themselves and do not represent any opinion or endorsement of the forum owners or moderators. Opinions of insignia originality can be either right or wrong, and must never be interpreted as a statement of the reputation or intent of the owner or seller. You agree to this by joining or continuing to use the forum.

Moderators will attempt to ensure the above rules are compiled with.

The Administrator and Moderators reserve the right to delete any or all forums, sub-forums, albums, threads, posts, images, or advertisements, either manually or via automated processes from anywhere within this forum domain, without warning or explanation.

Moderating decisions are final. Threads and posts started about moderation decisions will ALWAYS be deleted and further posts by that user will be placed in the moderation queue as a minimum.  If you feel you must discuss a moderation issue then do so by contacting the site administrator via the private message system.

Some important notes:

Your Privacy: The Forum uses cookies to remember your login and preferences. IP addresses are recorded. Your email address as volunteered by you is also recorded during the registration process. Other third party cookies are also used by our advertisers Google and eBay,  please visit their websites for information about their cookie usage and policy.

If you prefer not to receive our cookies you should navigate away from the site, or block all cookies in your browser settings. (Although the site will not function correctly with cookies disabled)

Registering and the Anti-spammer filter: If you are trying to register a common username then the chance is high it has already been used in the past by a spammer, and is probably in the spammer database; e.g. 'Tom' will be blocked but 'Tom_456' would be ok and allow registration. Tip - try and add a little complexity to your username.

Some email service providers treat our emails as spam or block us for reasons unknown. We do not have the time to pursue this but any that we know of are listed below:

hotmail.com hotmail.co.uk live.com outlook.com earthlink.net
tbo-asia.com orange.es airsurfer.ca

If you register with any of the above, your confirmation email will likely be blocked by your email service provider due to their inability to identify legitimate email and the account will be deleted by us after a few days.

If you want to add the forum email to your safe senders list before you register your chances of receiving it will be increased.

Your first few posts will be moderated, this is a very small number and over a very short time period. Please don't let this put you off - it's nothing personal, just one of our spam prevention steps. We will endeavour to get your first posts published ASAP.

Access to the Galleries and Albums begins during or just after the moderation period above.
