    Glider Pilot Regiment Cap Badge

It’s been a struggle to find a good example of the KC cap badge to the GPR I think due to the fact they are relatively scarce so I’m pleased to show this example I got from GN at Yate yesterday, there is a slight curvature to the badge and the signs of wear really add to it.
The font plus detail to the wings and feathers is pretty damn nice in my opinion

Hello Paul must agree with Luke I'm afraid, here's a badge I've moved on as a genuine item a while back.

      Cheers Tony.

The one bought at Yate is from the same die as this £2.50 badge https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Repro-Gli...EAAOSwve5dUaX6

Sorry but I would be having words with the dealer as it's an easy fake to spot.

To me there seems to be 3 different dies in the badges shown referred too most certainly the one Tony posted, the one I gave shown and the other eBay example also has differences.
There must be many fake dies around

Actually original badges are certainly not particularly scarce, far more were made than ever issued, the regiment was very small by then, most people who were on operational flying were out in Malaya.
Notwithstanding, completely spurious badges are far more common, my thoughts would be to seek a refund in this case.

The badges left and right of that trio are from the same die - note the shape of the crown and how the bird’s leg feathers carry on up to its wings, the same quiff/combover eyebrow that turns upwards at the end. You do get slight variations on the quality of strike - presumably depending on the weight of the flypress used and wear to the die.

There is a second fake die where the bird has a shorter eyebrow and different beak (amongst other slight differences) however it still has the common mistake of leg feathers going up to the wing.

The Firmin made badge (middle) is the ticket, you can’t go wrong with one of those. I’ll check if I have a spare.

£2.50 plus £1.20 postage, but, at least it is being sold as what it actually is, although, I am surprised at how many of these do ultimately sell as original.

The badge at the start of the thread looks artificially aged

Problem with fakes nowadays is that no one is immune, dealers or buyers, to getting stung. Iím sure youíll have no problem getting your money back from GN Militaria and there is no intent on their part, but it highlights a problem which often has nothing to do with reputation, knowledge, bla bla bla

I am still looking for the Army Formation sleeve badges from the Sultanate of Oman.

Thatís the second fake I mentioned with the shorter eyebrow but still has legs up to the wings. Very modern wedge-like slider on that one.

Happy to help. It’s from the same die as the one in Martin Marsh’s catalogue of fakes.

Hopefully you don’t mind but I’ve highlighted the areas on your badge that differ from the fake in the OP but that match the fake’s distinguishing points that can be seen (despite the scan quality) on the MM badge.

The only badges I consider genuine for this regiment are those from the Firmin die.
