In blackened or bronzed brass. A Bath cross with lions between the arms, overlain by a circlet inscribed ‘First Surrey Rifles’. In the centre a strung bugle. Beneath the cross a scroll inscribed ’21st County of London’, above the cross a scroll inscribed ‘Concordia Victrix’ surmounted by an Imperial crown. The cross has the upper arm inscribed with the Boer War honour ‘South Africa 1900-02’. The lower arm of the cross is inscribed with the date of the formation of the First Surrey Volunteers, ‘1803’ , or as in this example—the error version—’1903′.
