New Titles for Reserve Army Units 1967
Published in the April 1967 issue of "The Territorial" magazine this document lists the approved titles of major units of the reorganized Volunteers and Territorials of the Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, Royal Signals and Infantry.
Many of the T&AVR Category III (The Territorials) units were disbanded or reduced to a cadre strength shortly afterwards. However, a later change in government policy resulted in the expansion of some of the cadres into additional volunteer units. For anodised badge collectors this should help to explain (or make more mysterious) the currency and availability of items such as the Dorset Territorials, the Royal Wiltshire Territorials and the London Yeomanry and Territorials. Thnaks !!!
This is pretty interesting and I will be referring to it often with my work on anodised aluminium cap badges. Interesting to see that the 395 Air Despatch Troop was a Category 1 unit. Never really though of it before. Regards Chris |

New Titles....
Chris,
I have access to copies of the Defence Council Instruction 8.10.73. covering T&AVR unit & sub-unit titles (53 pages), plus the HMSO Cmmd 1216 of 11.60. (11 pages) which lists all the reorganisation details. Let me know if i can look anything up for you. Regards, Stephen. |

The added complexity is that some of the Coys appear to have worn the old badges in a/a but others did not. For example the Royal Scots Fusiliers abdge was in a/a for their comapny (Maj Edwards book has it). But the LI coys all wore the standard LI badge.
