Default Unknown Edwardian bullion cap/rank badge?

Hello,

Here is a lovely badge consisting of a King's Crown above the intertwined letters of RS or even RI.

Could be off a cap or could be worn as part of a WO's rank badge or even an NCO's badge.

Any ideas welcomed.

regards

Carl,

The Royal Yatch was crewed by the RN & RM and wore the badges of those two services. I dont know why they would wear this badge.

The only distinctive badges I am aware of for the RY crew are the ROYAL YATCH shoulder titles below crown.

Can you tell me more please, a source or photos.

regards

THE `royal yacht squadron was part of the navy at one point deffo in ww1 , this tho i have found to be RYS

THE only other that used RY was railway battalion as seen oin this list

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/d...cards-unit.pdf

not also that RYS was still in the list here

Appreciate the input but I am not convinced its RY, and believe that its RS.

Long shot but is it possibly RI, Rex Imperator (or whatever) and worn on court dress?

It does look RS.

Why is the crown not centered over the letters? It's off to the left.

Rgds, Thomas.
