First World War British Army Tank Corps Headquarters brassard approved in August 1917 and declared obsolete in June 1918. The Tank Corps was formed in 1917 from the Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps.INS 7679
.....armband,buckle, label blue red-edged cloth armband (W 105mm x H 175mm) with Tank Corps emblem (white and black-edged 'tank') in the centre and a buckle. The attached label has the inscriptions: ROYAL ARMY CLOTHING DEPARTMENT / STANDARD PATTERN No. 9574 / 1917 / Obsolete 18.6.18(in red ink) Armlet, cloth, blue, with scarlet edging, and Emblem of a Tank in white / M.G.C. Heavy Branch (crossed out in red) / 16.8.17 Tank Corps (in red) / Headquarters, France / 18160 / Q.M.G. 7 / 1917 / 2.7.17 / Approved 8.8.17. On reverse is Item 2615 (in red).

On reverse of label is 'Item 2637' (in red).

The Tank Corps was formed in 1917 from the Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps.The brown, red and green of the Corps colours are said to signify 'from the mud and blood to the green fields beyond'.Height 110 mm,Length 175 mm
