Default Australian collar badge worn in cap.

Spotted this in the notice board cabinet of my local British Legion.
Poster dated 2014 sorry for picture quality.
Shows AIF? Soldier with a collar sized badge worn on his cap.
Tony.

G'day Tony

The cap badge was always a collar badge, the Slouch hat (large rising sun) is far too big to go on the front of a cap. The large size rising sun is only worn on the Slouch hat and on the black RAC beret in white metal..

I hope that this helps.

regards

Phil.

Yes and this type of cap was worn in the middle east and Gallipoli note the button on the back was for the neck flap and has the correct leather buttons on the side to hold chin strap and flap.
