Hello from Cambs
Hi to all,
New to this forum, however I have been collecting militaria, predominantly Air Force items, for around 40 years now, I also spent 30 years in the RAF which added greatly to my collecting bug. I'm proud to say that some of my items are on display in the Pathfinder Collection within the RAF Wyton Heritage Centre, where I am the senior curator and one of the many volunteers that look after the items we have to show and talk about. My collection spans aircraft kit, uniforms, badges, buttons and my passion - Medals! Glad to be on board and hope to increase my knowledge within this forum. Cheers for now Johnny |

Welcome Johnny. I walked the wire with my hairy pals in my day. I'll ask the obvious question of you- just how do we identify a pathfinder badge!!!. Best wishes, Paul.

Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated.
A good question re the PFF Badge. AMO A1244 details the badge. Stores Ref - 22H/629. I will say that the only genuine PFF Badge comes with the letter and/or certificate! Or maybe one attached to a named Service tunic. The pin brooch badges are post war and were predominantly worn by veterans as members of the PFF association on it's introduction, the association closed during 2002 however annual functions are still held at RAF Wyton, this year we had 17 vets! 92 to 98 years young. This style of badge is still worn today by those brave men and/or their family member when attending functions and/or services. The original tunics I have on display have a few different types of fastening. The main one being the stud and nut type (Like that as worn on the forage cap). There are also a couple with the tang type fastening (Like that as worn on the visor cap). They must also face to the right as you look at it. Any other questions on the PFF, i'm more than happy to help. Thanks once again guys and all the very best to you and yours. Johnny |
