21st Lancers but not at this price
I have been after a good example of this badge for years, but no matter how badly I want one I'm not prepared to pay this price.
I really think they are taking the p*** Malc http://www.buywyze.com/viewphoto.php...1023056&phqu=2

Malcolm,
I'm sure this is a typo, surely not this price. Rob |

It is probably amongst the rarest of Cavalry Cap Badges? It took me well over 40 years of collecting to secure one, so I suppose the price, even if rather high reflects it scarcity!
Even the fakes are creeping up too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VICTORIAN-...item3f52280860 Andy |

Are you suggesting the particular badge being discussed in this thread is a copy?

Frank, I refer to the badge in Andy's link. Somehow managed to omit from my post. Tony.

Take a closer look, the metals used, the lack of detail, the crown, in particular, it's shape and detail, the lugs and so on, it is supposed to be nearly one hundred and twenty years old.

Have a look at the one being sold on 'Buywyze' link show at start of this thread. You will see the strike is of better quality, there are braze holes behind the white metal overlays on the pennons, and the loop fixing are much neater etc. Hope that helps. Regards Rob

Les,
as Rob points out just compare the quality or lack of it in the case of the eBay item. Thinly Struck, Poorly fashioned overlays/pennons, Thin dustbin-lid footed lugs, No vent/sweat holes, Lacking decades of age. It's not that obvious on the Buywyze badge, which is not the best of strikings, but when you view this one ; Best Regards Andy Last edited by 2747andy; 23-08-15 at 08:54 PM. |

I understand it's a scarce badge but I still think it's 200 pounds more than than I would be willing to pay.
Just pure greed on their part imo Malc
