Default MT Winged Wheel

I picked this up yesterday in a bunch of 'cloth' items. I went to Edwards and Langley to educate myself but they don't have a great deal of info on it.

Can anyone enlighten me? Infantry Battalion Motor Transport? RASC? WW2?

Default MT

Mike,

I think many of these "qualification badges" were unofficial and subsequently were not recorded as such, I may be wrong, but I think these are something which should have been reseached many years ago, but now sadly most of the former wearers of this type of insignia are long dead and gone.

Regards Rob

Default Arm badges

Tim,

I think the "DR" badges are for despatch riders, with the advent of radios, how long ago were despatch riders used?

Certainly they were used in WWII as I can remember my Father saying his unit had them.

I think they had been phased out by the time of the Korean war, however I'm sure someone will know for sure.

Many thanks guys. It's an interesting subject. I wasn't aware there were so many of these unofficial, yet commonly worn badges.
