It's an Italian crown mate, I'm positive. Not Mounted, Mountain or Artillery so Infantry at a wild stab

And here I am !

According to our experts, this is a badge of the 9th Infantry Regiment "Regina" of the Italian Royal Army.
It was introduced at the end of the '20s for use on the Adrian helmet (that was the standard italian helmet until the introduction of the model 1933) and "bustina" cap (sidecap).
The regiment was stationed in the isle of Rhodes on the Aegean Sea from 1924 to 1943 (Rhodes was an italian colony during that period).
The regiment still exists.

Hope this help !

I miss to tell that this kind of badge ceased to be worn after 1945.

New to the Forum and skimming through the information rherein, I came across this item, which seems to have drawn various comments. An un-numbered version of this same badge is shown in one of Guido Rosignoli's books. He states that the badges were "brass shoulder plates, issued in 1934, to sergeants, corporals and privates and worn on the shoulder straps for guard, parade and special duties."

I would agree with that more than it being on the Adrian helmet .

Default cap badge shoulder board

Hi, I've always thought it depended on fixing. Lugs for board; tangs for helmet.Bydand, what is the address of Italian forum? I have some queries about Italian tank badges.

I would go along with the shape would suggest shoulder plate, but the lugs suggest cap badge.
All the head dress badges I have seen don't look like this but who can dispute the Italian experts.
Cap Badge it is then.

Hi, strictly speaking, it's a helmet badge, plate for the Adrian helmet.
