Default 1 Canadian Para Bn Repro Titles.

One of the most collectable areas for Commonwealth badges is the special forces. Unfortunately, the demand for badges of these units has led to many reproductions and forgeries. This is true of the insignia for 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion.
Here is an example of a pair of reproduction shoulder titles for the battalion.
These showed up on the market about 3 years ago. They do not glow and have a wooly smell. The backing is an overlay of wool covering over the entire title, with no lettering embroidered through the backing material. The stitching for the maroon part shows through. Note the uneven embroidered letters.

An update. These titles have now been floating around for several years, and are still being represented as authentic. With the prices being asked for 1 Can Para insignia, researching the insignia is critical before purchasing.

Yes, these flashes have been around for many years now, as I have been offered them a few times over. I’ve even received the story that they were “Veteran acquired”. They are easily identifiable fakes, which is nice for the novice collector.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, some collectors have been taken. It is amazing how many people will put out hard earned dollars without investing any time in researching the material they are buying.
