Its a made up fake badge.

the back is a civilian bandsmans generic cap badge with a 17/21 st Lancers collar badge or similar in the centre.

Pure fantasy.

As the other posts have said in 2 letters NO its just another Fake.

And the cap badge of the regiment is Always referred to as a Motto, ie, Death OR Glory, that's what it says. The only time that it could be referred to as a badge was if there was no Motto below the jaws of the skull, however it is then referred to as a Skull & Bones.

Whilst I hate having to be pedantic, I hope that this helps.

I concur its a Fantasy Badge I'm afraid.

However, I'd like to make a couple of points/observations regarding the 17L,17/21L,QRL & RL 'Motto' (Cap Badge).

It is true to say that within the Regiments it is most certainly described as a Motto, as it is indeed among knowledgeable civilians that are aware that the Death's Head combined with the 'Or Glory' scroll constitutes the Regimental 'Motto'. Death or Glory.
That said it is quite forgivable and indeed tolerated I understand by the Regiment(initially at least) for those less informed to call it a badge, which of course it is to the layman.

Also, the Motto without a Scroll, is known in the Regiments as a Death's Head. This is made clear in Regimental History's and in all manner of official documents CCN's etc.

Lastly, the skull's of Motto's/Death's head's do not always have a Jaw, in fact its not that common. Its a question of anatomy really, as there is a gap between the Nose and the teeth of the Skull which seems to be misinterpreted very often as the top set of teeth. Hence you also find 'Motto's' sometimes as described having three sets of teeth etc.
