SAS Wing find in California
I picked this up at an insignia show in Southern California. The seller did not know much about it other than it being amongst a grouping of mostly US militaria that he had purchased recently. It looks well made of thicker threading then what you normally come across. I went through a number of threads to see if I could find a match with no luck. Is this a post war piece?

I don't no what period it's from, probably Malaya, but it's a nice looking wing.
Well done. Paul |

Thanks for your opinion of it being a Malayan period piece.

Is anyone else amazed just how many items of original SF insignia there now are in existence?
I am not casting aspersions on the wings in this thread, since I am no expert - but still, the volume of original items just grows and grows. It reminds me of the remark that Matisse, in his lifetime, painted 230 pictures, 1,500 of which are now in America... |

While I have not found any Matisse works of art yet there has been a fair amount on good insignia turned up here in the states as of late. One can attribute this to any number of reasons. My own experience has been old collections and accumulations coming on the market. Being somewhat literate in what to look for can pay dividends.
This is true also of better US insignia. The aging of the collector base is such that many scarce items are coming back on the market and in some cases in multiples. But it will likely all be bought up and put into collections not to be seen again for years. The cycle continues. As far as the wings originally posted. They look good to me and their being found does not seem to be unusual with the ebb and flow of the market. Hopefully there is another set out there for me. Jack
