VAD Nurse's cape
VAD Nurse Doris Benjamin's cloak (the image "borrowed" from Joanna Lumley's book Forces Sweethearts ) bears its share of treasures: 3 AGRA (First pattern), the CAI (Chinese Army in India patch, a Northern Ireland District and Royal Sussex (?) combination, a Swaziland Pioneers title, a pre-Normandy 7 Armd Div jerboa and , rather frustratingly, the last few letters...SHIRE and,,,IRE... of two Yeomanry titles.

Bottom one appears to be Shropshire Yeomanry, but what a great cloak!

Thanks. Based on the colouring I think the upper one might be Lanarkshire Yeomanry. Mike

As naive 18 year old I asked the Matron of the NAFFI Club in Port Said what 'VAD' stood for ......she answered 'Virgins Awaiting Destruction'...
