Some thing you dont see every day
I thought I would post this if allowed if not Mod's please remove.
I have a complete MC group WW1 to an Officer letter, original paper work and personal items , who got the MC for a trench raid to capture a prisoner. Two of the personal items is a German shoulder board which he cut of and took and a trench club he had during the war (all items came together from the family) and I have included a letter he wrote home describing the raid ( which he was awarded the MC for ) and his thoughts. Sad but this is war I suppose! Cheers |

Yes correct either he picked it up in the trenches he raid on that day or maybe from a raid before but it was something he brought back with him from the war.

He mentions that they attempted to take them prisoners but they resisted. He is regretful in his recollections. War is a terrible thing for sure.

But I wouldn't give much for the chances of any Australian wounded in the next trench raid.
