Default Rampant Lion Formation Signs and a TRF

I have a small collection of Rampant Lion patches, five Formation Signs and a TRF if I'm not mistaken. See picture.
1. East Scotland District (Scottish Command) Formation Sign
2. [North] Highland District (Scottish Command) Formation Sign
3. Scottish Command Formation Sign
4. 51st (Scottish) Brigade Formation Sign
5. Army HQ Scotland Formation Sign
6. Royal Regiment of Scotland TRF

First, as I understand it, a Formation Sign/Badge signifies location whereas the Tactical Recognition Flash is for the unit. Is that a correct statement? If that is the case, why wouldn't the 51st be a TRF? I've only seen it listed as a Formation Sign/badge.

Does anyone else have any other Rampant Lion Formation Signs they could show some pictures of?

Jerry,

Is this a change of title, for the same unit (same badge)?

6/ 29 (Corps Support) Engineer Brigade
8/ 71 (Scottish) Engineer Regiment

If it is do you have dates for the change?

Marc

Don't forget 15th (Scottish) Division of WW2 (red lion on yellow circle edged white on black square) and the patch for CO's tank crew in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards - upright scarlet lion on yellow rectangle.

HI Marc,
I was given this information when I brought the patch(s). I cannot corroborate if this is correct or not. I have seen both on e bay, where I brought them, shown as both but at different times.
I can only assume that one of them is wrong but until I find out for definite I am leaving them as such.

Jerry

Default Formation Signs

Thanks for all the comments, and pictures. I guess there are a lot more unit-specific Formation Signs/Badges than I thought. Maybe higher-level units - divisions/brigades (as well as assignment location) whereas TRF's are more regiment-level??

I've read that TRF's are worn on the right sleeve, whereas Formation Badges are worn on the left. Wonder if it gets confusing which sleeve to put a particular badge??

Possibly a local (Afghan) made Royal Regiment of Scotland TRF.
